Artist Biography

Although sculpture in clay has been my consuming interest for the past twenty odd years, like many artists, I have worked in related fields of endeavor to support my passion. I taught ten years of secondary art in high schools in California, Massachusetts, and Georgia after receiving my B.A. from Pasadena College in California. I hold, in addition, a Master's degeree in Liberal Arts from Vanderbilt University. I also served as Artist in the Schools demonstrating sculpture through the Tennessee Arts Commission and Williamson County Arts Commission.

I was responsible for designing and implementing Cheekwood Fine Art Center"s outreach program and redesigned and directed the Cheekwood Education Department in Nashville, Tennessee. During my seven year tenure at Cheekwood, I was given the opportunity to design special projects in clay and paper mache for the Antiques and Garden Show and "Trees of Christmas". I also participated as an artist in the two exhibitions, "About Face" that hung at the Nashville airport and at Cheekwood.

As the Executive Director of Traveller's Rest, I wrote a Metro Nashville Arts Commission grant to paint a three hundred foot mural on the railroad bridge in conjunction with the Overton High School students. I served on the board of the Williamson County Arts Commission and designed their "Artists in the Schools" program. I have additionally served on the Screening Committee for Tennessee Association of Craft Artists and as a juror for Spring Fair.

My sculpture has been exhibited and sold through shows and galleries in Tennessee, Virginia, Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania and New York. I have received numerous prized and awards including the purchase prize from the Tennessee All State Competition.

I have two beautiful and accomplished daughters by my first marriage. In May of 1996, I married woodcarver/artist, Russ Jacobsohn and moved to the mountains between Sparta and Monterey, Tennessee.
